Position Overview
We are seeking a criminal defense attorney to represent clients throughout the criminal justice process. This role requires strong advocacy, careful case preparation, and clear communication with clients and the firm’s legal support team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage criminal defense matters from consultation through disposition and post-disposition work, as assigned.
• Review charges, discovery, evidence, and procedural history to develop case strategies.
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and supporting memoranda.
• Represent clients at bond hearings, pretrial proceedings, plea hearings, trials, and sentencing.
• Negotiate with prosecutors and advise clients on available options and potential outcomes.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and trial.
• Coordinate with investigators, experts, and support staff.
• Maintain accurate case records and meet all court and filing deadlines.
• Identify potential immigration consequences and coordinate with immigration counsel when appropriate.
• Keep clients informed and comply with professional and ethical obligations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active South Carolina Bar membership in good standing.
• Criminal defense or prosecution experience preferred.
• Strong research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload while collaborating with a legal team.
• Professional judgment, reliable follow-through, and a client-focused approach.
• Ability to travel to courts within the firm’s service area.
