Job Description

Senior Land Surveyor, Heavy Construction

Folsom, California | Full-Time
Salary $128,000 - $190,000 DOE + Annual Bonus About R.E.Y. Engineers, Inc.

R.E.Y. Engineers, Inc. is a California-based civil engineering and land surveying firm with over 30 years of experience providing planning, design, and surveying services for public and private clients across the state. Our work supports complex infrastructure and construction projects through accuracy, collaboration, and technical excellence.
We are seeking a Senior Land Surveyor with experience in Construction Surveying to join our Surveying team in Folsom. This leadership role partners closely with our Principal Surveyor and Construction teams, supporting large-scale infrastructure, roadway, utility, and heavy civil construction projects.

The Senior Surveyor will oversee surveying operations for heavy civil and construction projects. This role focuses on construction staking, quantity calculations, and field coordination to support contractors, engineers, and public agencies.
As a leader within the Survey Department, this individual will provide technical oversight, mentor staff, and ensure precise, construction-ready deliverables — contributing directly to project success in the field. Responsibilities
  • Lead heavy construction survey efforts including layout, staking, as-builts, earthwork quantities, and construction calculations.
  • Review and approve survey deliverables including control networks, alignment geometry, and construction stake data.
  • Ensure survey work complies with R.E.Y. standards, contract documents, and California regulations.
  • Oversee QA/QC for survey computations, machine control data, and integration with Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
  • Mentor survey technicians, field crews, and surveyors-in-training working on construction projects.
  • Support training related to construction methods, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Surveyor to strengthen field operations, efficiency, and technical consistency.
  • Manage survey scopes, schedules, and budgets for active construction projects.
  • Coordinate closely with contractors, inspectors, engineers, and project managers.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, field reviews, and ongoing project coordination.
Qualifications
  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in heavy civil or construction surveying.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and construction survey workflows.
  • Strong understanding of construction staking, quantity calculations, and field verification.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to mentor field and office staff.
  • Strong communication skills with contractors, agencies, and internal teams.

You'll enjoy:
  • Leading impactful projects throughout Northern California
  • A collaborative culture where leadership is accessible and your ideas are valued
  • Opportunities to mentor the next generation of surveyors
  • Significant project ownership and decision-making authority

  • A stable, growing California consulting firm with more than 30 years of success
  • Competitive salary of $128,000 - $190,000, annual bonus opportunities, and comprehensive benefits
